Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice…..

On Monday 22 June our Art Scholars stepped straight into the wonderfully weird world of Tim Burton as they travelled to London to see Beetlejuice the Musical. In true Burton spirit, the Scholars embraced the theme with enthusiasm, arriving dressed in black, purple, green and white. The group looked as though they had stepped straight out of a sketchbook filled with Beetlejuice’s iconic palette.
The performance was a joyful explosion of humour, chaos and creativity. From the moment the curtain lifted, the Scholars were absorbed by the bold staging, energetic choreography and the show’s playful approach to the macabre. It was a celebration of imagination, something our Scholars have demonstrated time and again in their own work.

What made the trip truly memorable was the students themselves. Their curiosity, excitement and willingness to immerse themselves in the experience highlighted exactly why the arts hold such an important place in our school community. Whether analysing costume choices, discussing set design or simply enjoying the journey together, they brought the same thoughtful energy that has defined their contributions over the years.

As this was my final Scholars trip before leaving, I want to offer a sincere thank you. Working with the Art Scholars has been one of the greatest pleasures of my time here. Their creativity, kindness and commitment have shaped countless projects, exhibitions and moments of joy within the department. It has been a privilege to guide them and watch them grow into confident young artists.

To the Scholars, thank you for every idea, every risk taken, every sketch, every conversation and every burst of colour you have brought into the studio. You have made my years here unforgettable.
