On Wednesday 8 October, Abbey students were given a talk about Environmental Design by alumna Margarita Kobrina. In her talk, Margarita discussed the importance of Environmental Design in order to future-proof building structures, whilst also describing the process of developing plans which optimise natural sources of energy and airflow.

Additionally, it was particularly interesting to gain an industry perspective of her profession, and the differentiation between Environmental Design and Architectural Design, which prompted a discussion between students about future degrees and careers.

We are hugely grateful to Margarita for sharing her experiences. It was fascinating to hear how her interests had changed through her career, to see such stunning pictures of innovative buildings, and to learn about new designs and practices which do not damage the planet.
