Abbey Interludes

on

In last week’s Abbey Interludes, Sophie opened the recital, singing Where The Bee Sucks, by Arne. She performed from memory and this was a stylish, secure and characterful account. Suhana followed, with Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, played on the descant recorder.

There were controlled and varied articulations and it was a sparkling and rhythmic performance. The final item was a vocal duet by Upper VI students: Louisa and Frances. Flight, by Carnelia, highlighted the excellent blend of the two voices, with Louisa’s pure tone on the upper part and Frances’ warm alto sound below. All the performances were cordially appreciated by the audience.
