A Summer Well Spent

on

Grace W in Lower V kept herself busy throughout the summer. She sat her Grade 5 piano exam and passed with distinction, and continued with her charity work at St Luke’s care home playing the piano. She also successfully took part in the Youth Tennis Leaders Course and has now gone on to start helping out at the club.

Before turning 14, Grace W also sat the Mensa test and scored in the top 1% of the population, allowing her access to the organisation. British Mensa has about 2000 members under the age of 18. Grace W commented, “During the test I was nervous but excited at the same time. It was a unique experience that will be very valuable in the future. I enjoyed it.” She looks forward to taking part in their activities.

Finally, she entered a 1000-word competition writing about ‘How MDMA can affect us’, and the results will hopefully be with us by the end of September.

Quite a summer Grace W!

Just like her sister, Margaret W, Lower III, was on the go this summer. She sat her Grade 2 piano exam and passed with distinction. Also, she entered two separate writing competitions, one 250 words, and the other 1000 words. For the first one, the results are back and Margaret’s story will be published in a book as well as receiving a Certificate of Merit for her writing. The results for the second one will hopefully be with us by the end of September.

This is her third writing piece that made it into a book. This latest will be found in the National British Archive as it will be part of  ‘Ghost Stories- Into the Dark’.

To top it off, Margaret has also avidly partaken in three Bronze CREST awards called a ‘Goodbye Old Tree’, ‘A perfect cup of tea’, and ‘Drifting Dandelions’. Every project involves more than 10+ hours of work.

Well done Margaret.
