This week, our art scholars gathered for a truly delightful occasion — the annual Art Scholars’ Tea Party, marking the launch of this year’s programme of creative enrichment. Over cups of tea and hot chocolate, and an array of delicious cakes and sandwiches — “truly like a Royal Tea Party!” as Vera described — students connected across year groups and learned about the exciting activities ahead.

Creativity was at the heart of the afternoon, as scholars were challenged to adorn a teacher with a wearable sculptural accessory. “We worked in teams to create fashion pieces for teachers and enjoyed delicious treats while celebrating our creativity and teamwork,” said Julie. Aadhira added, “I loved working with people I had never talked to before. The activity gave us all a chance to use our skills while keeping it casual and fun.”

Many students highlighted the joy of collaboration and connection. “We got to make accessories for special VIP guests while chatting to them and eating delicious food,” shared Aarushi, while Aheli enjoyed “working as a team to create a unique accessory for our given teacher.” Alicia summed up the social side perfectly: “I really enjoyed making new friends and getting to know more about scholars in different years.”

Artist in Residence Kate Lockhart described the event as “a delightful start to the programme,” praising the students’ energy and imagination. With laughter, teamwork, and creativity in abundance, this year’s Tea Party was a perfect introduction to the year ahead — one filled with discovery, inspiration, and plenty of artistic fun.

A big thank you to the catering team and the art staff for making the food, activities and overall event so special.
